Seattle has been no stranger to dirty, heavy bands... but newcomers HELMS ALEE propel the city's longrunning music reputation to the next level of awesomeness. Marrying the best parts of grunge and the rock trinity of punk, indie and stoner varieties, this powerful trio lay waste with their debut album "Night Terror". Ten tracks that run the gamut of psychedelic grit, western-ish drugged out drone jams, delicate melodic passages and most of all, ferociously crushing heavy rock. These truly hypnotic songs also benefit from a healthy balance of soaring vocals into the triumphant chorus of male and female yells. The sheer magnitude of said awesomeness is pretty incredible for a relatively new band, but years in the trial-by-fire underground and a band member building their own amps only ups the ante. The inside front cover includes a removable old-fashioned library card, complete with personalized signatures from the artists and designers involved in the creation of this package. The final name on the library card will belong to the purchaser, hand-written and dated when purchased. Last year Sunn 0))) was invited to perform at a ancient cathedral in Bergen, Norway. The performance was captured via 24 track mobile recording and the results were pressed onto double 180 gram black vinyl. This recording will be available exclusively on vinyl only. There will not be a digital release (CD or downloads) - pure analog! The 0))) lineup for this performance includes Attila Csihar (Mayhem) on vocals, Steve Moore (Earth, Ascend) on the church`s legendary pipe organ and Norwegian native Lasse Marhaug on electronics. An essential reissue of the first two albums from this seminal instrumental Dutch band who ruled in the `90`s. Relentless, heavy pounding instrumental ROCK, whose influence on other instrumental outfits like Pelican, Don Caballero, Russian Circles, etc is painfully obvious. With their use of repetitive heavy rolling rhythms and bombastic execution (sans vocals) Gore pioneered a new style of music for the time. Gore’s sound is a monolithic one, uncompromising and seemingly singular in its vision.
